Find out if you need to give biometrics

At least 9 million of the country's 52 million registered voters still need to register for the biometrics system to be able to vote in the 2016 local and national elections.

Are you a registered voter who participated in the last elections? There's still a chance you may not be allowed to vote in 2016. That is, if your records have not been updated with biometrics data.

Under the biometrics system, voters information such as picture, fingerprint and signature are recorded on Comelec database, which is then used to purge multiple registrants from the final voters' list.

The registration period, which is also open for new voters, started Tuesday, May 6, 2014, and will last until October 31, 2015.

Find out more about the registration process.

What to bring

To have their biometrics taken, voters should personally appear before the Office of the Election Officer in their localities, and bring any of the following to establish their identities: Current employee's ID card, with the employer's signature, Postal ID, Student's ID or library card, Senior citizen's ID, Driver's license, NBI/PNP clearance, Passport, SSS/GSIS ID, Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID, License from the Professional Regulatory Commission or any other valid ID.

Those who will be turning 18 on or before May 9, 2016, or whose required period of residence will be satisfied on or before said election date may start filing their applications for registration STARTING May 9, 2015 only.

To have their biometrics taken, voters must have not missed the last two regular elections.
